Four Noble Hands 사군자 四君子 -손
'Sagunja' or the Four Noble Plants—plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo—symbolize the four seasons and represent Confucian virtues such as integrity, humility, and perseverance. In Korea's Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897), Sagunja painting was a popular art form, traditionally reserved for men. These 3D-printed Sagunja-inspired nail designs reinterpret these symbols, transforming their historically masculine significance into expressions of digital craftsmanship and nail art aesthetics.
Alongside the 3D nails, I drew inspiration from the poems of Kang Jeong-il-dang (1772–1832). As a woman, she was not allowed to publish her poetry. After her death, however, her husband published her poems and the book is called 정일당유고 Jeongildangyugo.
