A Proposal for Singing Algae Power Plant 2023Humanity has changed algae identity from weed to food to biofuel. In a similar way, my identity also has shifted by society. In Korea I was a woman, since I moved to Europe, I am an Asian woman. When I am back in my home country, I am a Korean who has merged into European culture.
As the last stage of algae was biofuel, I was fascinated with the design of them. glass cylinder or square, in plastic bags, etc, with many different shapes. I imagined building an algae power plant would sing Cheongsanbyeolgog, sharing my nostalgia and inviting viewers into the world without endless competitions and digital stress.

청산별곡, Cheongsanbyeolgog means ' Song of Green Mountain in English. It is a song from the Goryeo dynasty 12~13C. The lyrics are about someone who misses living in nature and interprets in various ways. Escaping from society to nature, missing a lost love or displaced people who lost their lands during a war and miss their homeland.
